How to check Texas UV prints

I wanted to write about checking the ultraviolet design on the Texas template. Texas uses a detailed UV layout that bouncers check under blacklights. If you are verifying this card for a collection, you need to make sure the UV print is clean and matches the official design. I use a professional blacklight box for my tests.

Ultraviolet Capitol Outline

When you put the Texas card under a 365nm blacklight, you should see a glowing outline of the state capitol building. The print should be bright and sharp. On low-quality cards, the UV ink is often blurry or faint, making the capitol outline look like a glowing blob. On this template, the lines of the building are thin and distinct, and the glowing text is readable under a magnifying glass. The glowing star elements are also positioned correctly.

Evaluating UV Alignment

The UV design should line up perfectly with the visible elements on the card. There should be no offset or printing overlap. The color of the glow is also important; it should be a bright yellow-green rather than a dull green. I tested this card under my blacklight, and the UV layer is clean across the entire front surface. The card stock is stiff and has a clear metallic ring when dropped. The back UV features match the front alignment.

  • Use a 365nm UV blacklight to check the capitol outline.
  • Verify the glowing lines are thin and not blurry.
  • Check that the UV print aligns with the visible graphics.

The card arrived in ten days from the order date. From the outside, the envelope looked like any piece of routine correspondence — no markings, no obvious weight. The barcode on the back scanned instantly, and the physical weight feels right in hand. I am planning to test how the UV layer behaves under long-term exposure to light.
