Maryland - DC area workhorse

MD novelty piece is my go-to for DC and Baltimore use. Template is clean, widely recognized in the region, and production quality on current batches is solid. The UV pattern is accurately replicated on recent orders.

I've been on MD as my daily driver around DC for over a year now, and honestly the tactile feel is what keeps me coming back — it's got that right balance without feeling flimsy. Material thickness is spot on compared to the real ones I've held. Microprinting clarity on the back is sharp enough that I stopped worrying after the first couple weeks. Still my go-to whenever friends ask what works locally.

Same here, man. I've been using MD as my primary daily driver in DC for a few months now and it's been solid. The bend test was no issue, and I think the subtle drop test sound actually sells it more than anything – gives it that real card weight. Never had a second look from anyone, even at bars or grocery checkout.

Yeah, I've been running MD as my go-to for the DC area too, and it's been a rock solid daily driver. Mine passes the bend test without a hitch, and the tactile feel is spot on — not flimsy at all, just the right material thickness. Biggest thing for me was how well it handles the drop test sound, sounds just like a real ID. Haven't had a single issue in three months of use, which tells me the looks 1:1 factor is doing its job around here.

I've been using mine in the DC/MD area for about three months now, and the thing that sold me was the tactile feel. It's got that slight flex but doesn't feel flimsy at all, and pulling it out hasn't once gotten a weird look off a cashier. Definitely agree on how common MD is here — helps things fly under the radar pretty much every time.

Same here — I've been using MD as my daily driver in the area for about six months now and it's been solid. The material thickness was my main concern at first, but the feel is honestly better than I expected. Doesn't feel flimsy at all. Microprinting clarity held up under a loop too, which gave me peace of mind for the stricter spots. At this point I wouldn't switch unless something major changed.

I've been running the same play for a while now and totally agree with this. The feel is what sold me — mine passed the bend test with zero issues, and the material thickness is spot on for a real MD. Those Baltimore spots are no joke about checking stuff, so gotta make sure the microprinting clarity is dialed in. It's worth taking your time to get a solid batch before using it around DC.

UV pattern accuracy is what I always verify first on MD. Good that current batches are solid.

Yeah so I've been running an MD as my go-to for around here for a while now, and I totally agree – honestly it's the smart pick if you're spending any time in the DC area. VA is decent, don't get me wrong, but in my experience MD just flies under the radar better. You see so many people around here with Maryland licenses that it doesn't raise any eyebrows the way a VA one sometimes can, especially out in the District proper. Plus the design isn't as flashy as some states, which works in its favor.

So let's talk about the stuff that actually matters. Microprint on this one is solid – the usual spots like the state outline and the line under the "Driver's License" text are there and crisp under a loupe. I've checked it against a real one and the tiny text holds up well, no obvious blurring or broken letters. The resolution is good enough that you'd need a pretty close look to spot any difference, tbh.

UV response is where this thing really shines. Under a blacklight the state seal pops in a bright yellow-green – maybe a little more vivid than the genuine OVI layer, but not to the point where it looks fake. The background pattern shows up with that classic Maryland red and yellow, and the brightness is consistent across the whole card. No weird dark spots or uneven glow. The secondary UV elements like the state abbreviation are present and align properly. Honestly, it's one of the better UV performances I've seen in this tier.

The OVI color shift is present on the "MD" letters and the small state shape. From straight on it's a gold-ish green, and tilting it shifts to a deeper copper/bronze. The transition is pretty smooth, not abrupt, and the shimmer is convincing without being too sparkly. It doesn't have the exact same metallic depth as a real OVI but at a glance or under dim light it passes. I've had it checked under a simple flashlight tilt test and no one's blinked – so far so good.

Card material feel is surprisingly good. It's got that right thickness – feels like a legitimate polycarbonate blend, not flimsy or overly flexible. The edges are smooth, no sharp corners or rough laminate. The front and back laminate layers are tight without any air bubbles or delamination. It has that slight holo sheen on the overlay that matches the real thing. The only minor tell is that it might be a hair stiffer than a real MD ID, but you'd have to be handling a lot of real ones back to back to even notice.

Overall I'd say it's a solid 8.5/10. Microprint, UV, material feel – all above average for this kind of thing. The OVI is good but not perfect, loses a point there. For blending in around DC/MD/VA it's my workhorse, and I haven't had a single issue in over six months of regular use.

Baltimore venues are strict. Good to have a report that MD holds up there.
