Ohio ID review - pretty impressed
Hey, thanks for asking! Tbh, I didn't want to drop a vendor name since the rules here are pretty strict, but I can talk about the details on the Ohio ID itself. Overall I'm still really impressed with how this one turned out—honestly, definitely one of the better replicas I've seen in this state.
So starting with the microprint: Ohio has those tiny lines, like around the “Ohio” text and the state seal. On this copy, the microprint is crisp under a loupe—no smudging or unreadable characters. The line pattern on the top border holds up well too. I've seen some fakes where that microprint just looks like a fuzzy line, but here it's actually legible if you know where to look.
UV light response is pretty solid, honestly. The Ohio UV pattern shows the state outline and some scattered stars with a bright bluish-white glow. The brightness is consistent across the whole pattern—no dark spots. The color temperature looks pretty close to a real Ohio ID I've handled—slightly cool white, not too yellow. The stars also fluoresce evenly. No ghosting or bleed-over from non-UV elements.
OVI—the color-shifting ink—on the “Ohio” text in the bottom right corner shifts nicely from green to gold when you tilt it. The transition is smooth, not choppy, and the metallic sheen catches the light well. It's not as vivid as a real one under direct sunlight, but under normal indoor lighting it's convincing enough. The shift angle feels natural—about 45 degrees.
Card material feel: this one is closer to Teslin than PVC, which is what Ohio uses. It's got that slightly rubbery, flexible feel without being too flimsy. The surface has a subtle matte finish, not glossy—matches the originals. The thickness is spot on—about 30 mils. The edges are smooth and rounded, no sharp corners. The laminate layer adheres well, no bubbles or peeling at the edges.
Overall I'd give this Ohio ID an 8.5 out of 10. It loses half a point on the OVI not being perfectly vibrant, and another point because the microprint—while good—isn't quite as razor-sharp as a real one under magnification. But for the price I paid and the use it's seen, it's held up really well. No discoloration or delamination so far. If you're on the fence, I'd say go for it—just don't expect perfection under a microscope.
How long did shipping take? Been waiting on mine for a week now
I got an Ohio too recently. Agreed on the color being slightly off but nobody has noticed so far
Got my Ohio ID last week and wanted to share my thoughts.
