Ohio template quality check - direct comparison

Placed my novelty OH next to my friends real Ohio license. Holograms match well. UV features accurate. Ghost image is slightly lighter than the real one but you would have to know what to look for to notice.

I finally got to do a side-by-side comparison of the latest Ohio template against a real O21 I had on hand. One thing that stood out right away was the ghost image. The rep I got has a slightly lighter ghost, and honestly, I think that's the way to go. A lot of people think it needs to be super dark and pronounced to look legitimate, but if you look closely at a real Ohio, the ghost image is pretty subtle. It's there—you can see the outline and the detail—but it doesn't overpower the main photo. Too dark, and it just looks printed on, which immediately catches a bouncer's eye. The lighter ghost lets the microchip and the rest of the background layer breathe, which honestly is closer to how the real DMV issue looks.

Since I had the real one in hand, I also checked the microprint around the state seal and the "THE STATE OF OHIO" text under the UV. The template I have actually holds up pretty well here. The microprint is crisp enough that you can't read it with the naked eye, which is exactly how it should be. I've seen some older versions where the microprint bled together or was too sharp—both dead giveaways. The DOB format is spot on too, which sounds basic but you'd be surprised how many mess it up. The fine lines in the state outline are also well-defined, no noticeable bleeding at all.

I checked it under UV and the OVI as well. The UV response on this template is solid—tbh, nice bright red and blue layers, though maybe just a hair brighter than the real one under direct light. Totally passable in a club setting though. The OVI color shift on the "OHIO" silhouette is decent too. It shifts from green to a coppery-gold, which is close to the real deal. The genuine one has a slightly more dramatic shift and a bit more of a metallic sheen, but you'd really need them side-by-side to catch it. As for the card material, it's got that classic Teslin feel.

OH is a reliable template because it is not overly complex. Good baseline state.

Direct comparison is the best test. Good that you had a real one to compare against.
