Pennsylvania polycarbonate quality - advice needed
PA is one of my favorites honestly, and I've handled quite a few of these over the years. The polycarbonate material is spot on – it's got that same slight flex and stiffness you get from the real deal, not flimsy like some of the old Teslin cards. Surface texture feels authentic too, with that matte finish that doesn't pick up fingerprints too easily. When you bend it, it snaps back without leaving a crease, which is pretty much exactly how PennDOT's polycarbonate behaves.
Let's get into the details. The microprint is solid – the repeating “COMMONWEALTH OF PENNSYLVANIA” along the borders and inside the keystone is crisp under a loupe. I've seen some earlier versions where the letters were a bit fuzzy, but recent batches are sharp enough to read clearly with a 10x loop. The UV response is where this really shines: the state outline and the keystone glow a bright, almost neon green under blacklight, and the background pattern lights up evenly without hot spots or weird patches. The brightness is consistent across the whole card, which is a good sign. Some novelties have weak UV in certain areas, but this one maintains a uniform glow throughout.
The OVI color shift on the keystone and the small “PA” overlapping it is very convincing. When you tilt the card, it shifts from a deep gold to a greenish-copper, and the transition is smooth – no rough edges or patchy pigment. I'd say the shift angle matches genuine cards I've seen. The tactile feel of the card material itself is spot on: it's not too thick, not too thin, and it has that slight “snap” when you flick it. The lamination is solid – no peeling edges or bubbling, even after carrying it in a wallet for a few days.
Overall, I'd give this a 9.5/10. The only minor thing is that the microprint could be a hair finer on the very smallest text, but that's just nitpicking. If you're looking for a PA polycarbonate, this is about as close as you can get without going to the DMV. Just make sure you're getting a recent version – older batches had slightly off fonts or duller UV, but the current ones are top-tier.
Compared it to a real one, honestly couldnt tell the difference
Its really good actually. Feels authentic and bends without cracking
How is the PA polycarbonate material? I know its different from the PVC states
