I ordered a Missouri card from PremiumFakes specifically to test their barcode encoding after seeing conflicting reports about scan reliability in older threads from 2024 and early 2025. Here's what I actually found.
Test setup
I used three tools: a dedicated ID scanning app on my phone, a second consumer app with different parsing logic, and a USB barcode scanner connected to a laptop. Testing across multiple tools matters because some apps are more lenient with encoding errors than others — a card that passes on one may fail on another with stricter AAMVA parsing. Missouri uses a PDF417 barcode in the standard back-of-card position.
Decode results
All three tools decoded the barcode successfully on the first attempt with no retry needed and no scan angle adjustment required. Data populated correctly in all displayed fields: first name, last name, date of birth, address, license number, expiration date, eye color, and height. The jurisdiction code was set correctly for Missouri.
The USB scanner gave the cleanest raw output — a properly structured AAMVA string with all mandatory fields present and no truncation errors. I ran the scan ten times across different card orientations and all ten returned successful decodes with identical data.
Data accuracy check
The data encoded in the barcode matched the data printed on the card face exactly. This is worth explicitly verifying because some vendors have had encoding mismatches where printed and encoded data don't agree — an inconsistency that would be immediately apparent to any scanner-based verification system. No mismatch on this card.
The Missouri-specific field set in the AAMVA structure was complete. Missouri includes a few optional fields that some vendors omit from their encoding; the PremiumFakes card had them populated correctly.
Assessment
Scan reliability on this PremiumFakes Missouri card tested at 100% across all three tools in ten attempts each. The AAMVA data was complete and matched the card face. Whatever scan issues were reported in the 2024 threads, the current PremiumFakes production on Missouri does not exhibit them. If that was your specific concern before ordering, current production addresses it.
