Nice write-up, OP. I've handled a few Texas copies lately, and the tactile feel is where I really notice the difference—the real ones have that subtle matte texture that cheap fakes miss entirely. Microprinting clarity on the state outline is another dealbreaker, it's super crisp on legit IDs. Passed the bend test on some, but a couple felt flimsy and gave it away immediately. Good guide for anyone starting fresh.

Great breakdown, OP. I've been looking at these too, and honestly, microprint is where most fakes fail. That tiny text along the state outline? Brutal to replicate. Under a loupe, it's either blurry or just dots. If a source gets that right, they're ahead of most. I'd add that the OVI shift is tricky too, but microprint is still the easiest quick check. Thanks for putting this together.

Yeah, honestly the UV test is the biggest killer. I've seen so many fail on that chartreuse glow. And that copper-to-green OVI shift? Way harder to fake than people think. If a vendor can't even show you a pic under 395nm, I'd pass. Material feel matters too, but UV is the instant giveaway for me.

Yeah, the OVI star shift is the biggest tell for me too. Honestly, if that copper-to-green isn't smooth, it's dead on arrival. Microprint along the border's another easy check—most fakes just print a blurry line. Saved me from some real lemons.

Nice breakdown. I've been testing the Global ID Network Texas too, and honestly, I'd agree with your 8.5/10. The UV is solid, but it's not quite as bright as the real one — and that polycarb-blend feels a bit slick, tbh. Microprint and OVI are on point though. For the price, it's probably your best option right now, unless you're handing it to someone who inspects closely.

Yeah, the UV on these new REAL IDs is where most fakes trip up. That green-to-orange shift near the bottom? Tricky to get right, honestly. I’d add that microprint on the star and top border is the first thing I hit with a loupe — if it’s not razor sharp, it’s an instant no-go for me.
