Texas Novelty IDs - Which Vendors Do Them Best?

posted by yvngchogi 9 months ago 626 views 7 comments

Looking to get a Texas novelty ID and want to know which vendors actually do a good job with it.

I know Texas is one of the harder states to replicate because of the:

  • Perforated state outline
  • UV features
  • Raised signature
  • Complex hologram overlay

I've heard mixed reviews about different vendors. Some say their Texas looks good, others say the perforations are off or the holograms are too bright.

Who has actually ordered a Texas ID recently and from which vendor? What was your experience with quality?

$130 for the ID + duplicate. Took about 2.5 weeks to arrive. They have a domestic reshipper so it's faster than international shipping.

One more tip - make sure your signature looks natural. Texas really emphasizes the signature and bouncers check it. Don't use a fancy font, just write it normally.

I've seen IDGod Texas IDs and honestly they're not great. The perforations look machine-punched rather than laser-cut. If you're in Texas or using it in Texas, don't go budget.

OldIronsidesFakes also does solid Texas IDs. Slightly cheaper than FYD but still high quality. Check their reviews.

How much did you pay and how long did shipping take?

Thanks y'all. Sounds like FYD or OIF are the way to go. I'm in Austin so I need something that'll hold up. Appreciate the help!

I got mine from FakeYourDrank about 2 months ago. I've been meaning to do a more detailed breakdown since I see so many people asking about Texas novelty IDs. Right off the bat, the perforations are spot-on — the hole patterns in the birthday and expiration date line up perfectly with a real TX license. I compared it side-by-side with a buddy's real Texas ID and honestly the spacing and size of the microperfs are pretty much indistinguishable.

Microprint accuracy is solid too. On the real Texas IDs there's tiny microprint along the date of birth and inside the star shape on the left side. My copy has that microprint crisp and readable under a cheap loupe — no blurring or smudging like I've seen on some older batches from other places. The state name and the "LONE STAR" text in the background hold up well too; the lines are clean, not pixelated.

UV light response is another area where this thing shines. Under a blacklight the state seal glows a bright blueish-white, right where it should be — not too dim, not too neon. The secondary UV elements like the repeating "TEXAS" ghost text and the border pattern are all there and they match the correct brightness level. No random bleeding or weird color shifts under UV, which is a common tell on cheaper IDs.

The OVI (optically variable ink) is where I was most curious. On the front of the card the big "TEXAS" text shifts nicely between a gold and a greenish hue depending on the angle. It's smooth, not an abrupt switch, and the color range looks correct compared to the real thing. The reflective foil on the state seal also has that subtle iridescent sheen when you tilt it.

Card material feel is honestly one of the best parts. It's PVC with a matte finish, not too thick or flimsy. It bends slightly like a real ID would when you flex it, and the edges are clean with no rough cuts. The lamination is tight — no bubbling or lifting at the corners. I've heard some people complain about later batches feeling a bit plasticky, but mine feels solid. No weird smell either.

Overall, for a Texas novelty ID that needs to hold up at strict venues in Dallas, this one does the job. I've taken it to several bars and clubs that are known to give IDs a hard look, and it's passed every time. I'd give it a 9/10 — the only reason I'm not giving it a perfect score is that the microprint on the ghost image could be slightly sharper, but that's being nitpicky. Well worth the price for the quality.
