Texas template update looking good
Did they fix the UV? That was my only complaint before
Yea just got mine in hand and I gotta say, the Texas template update's looking really good. First thing I noticed is how much cleaner the print quality is compared to the last version. The microprint around the state seal and border lines is way crisper now — no weird blurring or broken letters like before. Under a loupe you can actually read that tiny "LONE STAR" text without squinting. That alone is a huge step up.
I also hit it with a UV light and it's solid. The usual Texas flag and star pattern pops nicely — no weird bleed or dull spots. Color brightness is on point, that deep blue and red really stand out without washing out under the blacklight. The UV layer is even across the whole card, so they definitely dialed in the coating process. Last version had some patchiness, but this one's consistent.
The OVI color-shift on the big star and the "TEXAS" text is improved too. Tilt it in natural light and you get that smooth transition from green to gold — no chunkiness or dead spots. It shifts cleanly and catches the light just like a real state-issued ID should. I'd say it's about 90% accurate to the gen, which is pretty impressive for this kind of detail.
As for the card material feel — it's definitely better than before. The last batch had that slightly waxy, almost slick surface that felt off. This one has more of that matte, slightly textured finish like real Texas IDs have. It bends with the right amount of stiffness — not too flimsy, not too rigid. The lamination is tight with no bubbles or peeling at the edges, always a good sign for longevity.
The ghost image is noticeably sharper, like you mentioned. That's actually one of the tougher details to get right, so it's great to see they fixed the fuzziness from the previous version. The main photo and the ghost now align perfectly in terms of exposure and contrast, which really sells the overall look.
Overall I'd give this template a solid 8.5 out of 10. There's still some minor room for improvement on the fine line work near the corners, but for a newer release it's definitely a big improvement. If you've been on the fence about grabbing one, I'd say go for it — this version is worth it.
UV looks better but still not 100%. Good enough for most places tho
Anyone else notice the new TX template? The microprint on the back looks way cleaner now
Finally matches the real thing better. About time honestly
