Texas U21 vs O21 - which one is easier to get away with?

I'm 19 and trying to decide between ordering a Texas U21 or O21 fake ID. Here's my situation: **U21 Pros:** - More believable for my age - Less scrutiny from bouncers - Still legal to buy alcohol/get into bars **O21 Pros:** - Don't have to do the mental math for bouncers - Some places are more lenient What's worked better for you guys? I mostly go to college bars and liquor stores in the area. Also, which vendors do the best Texas IDs? I've heard mixed things about the newer template.

I've got a TX O21 and honestly, the looks 1:1 part is what sells it. If the material thickness and microprinting clarity aren't spot on, you're cooked regardless of orientation. I had a buddy's U21 that felt flimsy — failed the bend test immediately. O21 is just easier to fake because bouncers aren't already suspicious the second they see it's vertical. Save yourself the hassle and go O21.

Totally agree with Reply 3 — confidence is everything, but having a card that actually feels right helps a ton. I've had a TX O21 for a while, and what sold me was the material thickness and the tactile feel; it doesn't feel flimsy at all. You'd be surprised how many bouncers just check that and the bend test without even looking close. Haven't had anyone catch mine yet.

Yeah, O21 is the way to go for sure. I've honestly been down this road with Texas IDs and the difference in how bouncers treat them is night and day. Like you said, the vertical orientation of the U21 just screams "underage" before they even look at it—like, half the time they'll give it a quick glance and hand it back with a look that says "I'm not even gonna bother." But the O21 card, since it's horizontal, looks way more natural in their hands, and because it matches what they expect from a standard driver's license, they tend to give it an actual scan instead of a dismissive flick.

Beyond just the orientation though, there's some pretty real physical differences worth pointing out. I mean, the U21 cards are printed on the same PVC stock as the O21, but a lot of the newer O21 Texas cards I've seen have a slightly better laminate feel—less peel-prone edges and a more consistent glossy finish. The U21s sometimes have that weird tacky texture if the lamination isn't perfectly aligned. And the O21s tend to hold up better to wear—the microprint around the photo and the border dates stays sharp longer because the laminate layer is a bit thicker on the production end for the over-21 versions. That said, I haven't seen any major differences in the actual microprint accuracy between the two. Both have that tiny "TEXAS" text repeating along the state outline and those fine-line guilloche patterns in the background. It's all laser-etched and crisp if you get a good batch, but the U21s sometimes have a slight registration shift where the microprint doesn't quite line up with the underlying design.

UV response is something else you gotta think about. The O21 Texas IDs have a bright UV overlay that lights up the state outline and "LONE STAR" text in a pretty strong yellow-green glow under a blacklight. The U21s have the same pattern, but the brightness tends to be a little dimmer in my experience—maybe tbh because the card stock layers are thinner for the under-21 version. The color shift on the OVI (the Texas seal in the top right) is decent—it flips from copper to green under different angles, but it's not as vibrant as some other states. The U21s don't even bother with a true OVI element in the same spot; they just have a generic foil stamp that shifts silver to gold, which is a dead giveaway if a bouncer actually bothers to tilt it. So for that reason alone, O21 wins again.

As for card material feel, both are standard PVC, so they have that typical credit card stiffness and weight. The O21s tend to feel a bit more solid in the hand—maybe because they're issued to an older demographic and see less abuse—but fresh out of the package they're pretty much identical. Texture-wise, the O21 has a slightly matte finish on the back, whereas the U21 is more glossy. That's just what I've noticed from handling a bunch of these with friends.

Overall score out of 10? I'd honestly give the O21 a solid 8.5 for passing in the wild—good microprint, strong UV, decent OVI, comfortable feel. The U21's probably more like a 5.5 if you're trying to use it after dark, but honestly only because the vertical orientation is an instant tell. Stick with O21 and don't look back.

I use a TX O21 and I'm 20. Never had issues. Just be confident and know your info. That matters more than U21 vs O21 tbh.

That's good to know about the colors. What should I look for specifically?

The red on the new Texas O21 is very specific. It needs to match exactly or it's obvious. Also check the star hologram placement.

I disagree. U21 is way more believable when you're 19. Just make sure the vendor gets the colors right - that's where most TX fakes fail.
