Texas vs Florida ID - which one passes better?
Florida is more common to see out of state, so it raises less suspicion. Texas works too but FL is probably safer if you're on the east coast.

Both are solid choices honestly. I'd say go with Florida because:
- Simpler design means less room for error
- Very common ID to see anywhere
- Cheaper to get made usually

Yeah FL is definitely your best bet. Just make sure you get one with the correct UV features, that's where some cheaper vendors mess up

I have a Florida ID and it works great. The template is really accurate and most vendors have it perfected by now.

I've been looking into this same decision for a while now, so here's what I've gathered from comparing the real specs and the usual replica strengths and weaknesses. Since you're on the East Coast, both Texas and Florida are pretty common, but honestly, I think there are clear differences in how passable they are right now.
So starting with Texas. The real card has microprint along the state outline and inside the white star near the top. Good copies manage that pretty well, but the text inside the star is often too thick or blurry. Under UV, Texas shows a yellowish‑orange outline of the state and a small “LONE STAR” watermark – and that color has to be bright, not too pale. The OVI (the color‑shifting ink) on the Texas ID is gold that shifts to a copper tone when tilted. Most current batches have the shift, but it's often too metallic or slow. The card itself is a polycarbonate laminate – stiff with a slight gloss. Cheap versions feel soft or have a weird bend. Overall, I'd give Texas a 7/10 right now. The microprint and OVI are what hold it back.
Now Florida — the real ID has microprint hidden in the fine circuit‑board pattern that surrounds the state outline, plus tiny text along the top edge of the back. Replicas often miss those details or print them as dots. UV on Florida is a strong blue‑purple that shows the state outline and a large “FL” underneath. Brightness is crucial — a dull or incorrect shade (like straight blue instead of blue‑purple) will get you busted fast. The OVI shifts from gold to green on the Florida card. It's a more distinct color change compared to Texas, and decent copies often nail that shift. The card feel is a bit lighter and maybe slightly thinner than Texas, but still has a nice snap. Poor copies feel too flimsy or have a tacky surface. I'd give Florida an 8/10 overall — the UV and OVI are easier to get right, and the microprint, while tricky, is less of a give‑away than Texas's star.
Since you're on the East Coast, Florida might be a safer bet just because it's more common around there. Texas still gets pulled fine, but any small errors in the star microprint or UV dullness stand out more to people who see TX IDs every day. I've heard some newer Texas copies have improved the OVI shift, but I haven't handled one myself yet.
What are you leaning towards? If you've seen any recent batches, I'd love to know how the material feel compares — that's the hardest thing to judge from photos alone.
