Texas vs Florida - which one is safer to use?
Man, I’ve been going back and forth on this exact question for a while now. From what I’ve seen across different batches and vendors, Florida is definitely oversaturated right now. Every third person at clubs or bars seems to be rocking a FL fake – it’s become the go-to starter state for way too many people. Bouncers have caught on hard, especially in college towns. They’re giving FLs the extra squint test before they even look at the picture.
If you’re comparing safety in use, honestly Texas is the smarter play in my experience. The microprint on good TX fakes is surprisingly sharp – the “TEXAS” text along the state outline and the tiny “LONE STAR” lettering around the Capitol building are usually spot on if you go with a reputable source. FL’s microprint though tends to blur more easily because the state seal has so many fine details that get muddied when they try to reproduce it.
UV response is another big difference. A solid Texas fake will hit that bright yellow-green glow under blacklight, especially around the state outline and the “21” overlay. Florida’s UV is that classic bright orange for the state and the palm tree – it’s obvious and attention-grabbing, which isn’t great when you want to fly under the radar. Texas UV is a lot more subtle, way less eye-catching, which helps in dimly lit bars where bouncers just shine the light quickly.
OVI color-shifting is where Texas really pulls ahead, tbh. The gold “TEXAS” lettering shifts from greenish-gold to a coppery bronze depending on the angle. On good batches it’s smooth, not grainy. Florida’s OVI (the gold on the state outline) tends to be either too dark or too light, and a lot of fakes have that cheap glue-and-foil look that flakes off after a week. Texas holds up better.
Card material feel – both states use polycarbonate or Teslin-based composites on genuine ones. Most TX fakes I’ve felt have that nice matte finish with a bit of flex, pretty similar to real ones. FL fakes often come out too glossy or too stiff, especially the laminated ones that bend with a weird snap. Real FL IDs are actually fairly flexible, so the fakes often get that wrong.
Overall, I’d give Texas a solid 8/10 for safety and quality out of the box, assuming you get a well-sourced batch. Florida I’d put at a 5 or 6 – it works if you’re in a state where bouncers aren’t as familiar, but the oversaturation is a real liability, especially in the Southeast. Go TX and thank me later.
Depends where you're using it honestly. In Florida itself? Don't use FL lol. TX works better out of state from what I've seen.
Both are fine if the quality is good. Just don't act nervous and you'll be fine with either
Go with whatever vendor makes a better template tbh. Research the specific vendor's TX vs FL reviews
Been debating between getting a TX or FL for a while now. I'm in the southeast region.
I know both are commonly faked but which one tends to get less scrutiny from bouncers in your experience?
Budget isn't really an issue, just want the one that'll work better. Thanks in advance
